Overview
Basic Course Description
Aversion towards aspects of self and/or other is a normal part of our messy human existence. However, for some of us, aversion / non-acceptance of aspects of self and others damages our experience of life and can obstruct the path of healing. Drawing from traditional Buddhist Meditation practice (Tong Len), we will identify aspects of self and other that we don't like, before developing compassion towards those aspects through practice. Moreover, we'll investigate the difficult experiences that have contributed to these issues.
This is a Practice oriented course
Doing the work (meditations in this case) is what brings about the results. The learning content of the course is intended to guide and encourage the meditation practice which will bring about the desired healing.
List of what this course covers
In this course we will:
• find and examine these ‘points of aversion’
• see the causal and impersonal nature of these parts of self and other we don’t like
• examine, normalize, and work through our aversion itself
• develop compassion towards self and other
• and apply compassion toward that which we don’t like
