Join us for this workshop where we will seek to understand our inner critics and then process and even confront the experiences that brought about the inner critics. These critics can manifest as demanding parent, punitive parent, and guilt-inducing parent voices.

The intended outcome is to have greater freedom from these introjects (negative attitudes of others that we unconsciously adopt).

Who is this for?

  • Anyone who has experienced excessive criticism from others, habitually puts themselves down for their mistakes, or struggles with attachment related issues.
  • Suitable for anyone new to attachment-work, or is already experienced.
  • People with Insecure Attachment.
  • For anyone who is willing to do the work to get results.

Format

  • Program: 3 sessions of 90 minutes each.
  • Live Online Sessions: The live sessions will be hosted on Zoom. An email with the zoom links will be sent to you after you have registered.
  • Q&A: There will be opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A section.

Attendance & Recordings

  • Partial attendance is fine - however you get best results if you attend all sessions.
  • Late Starts: You can join even after it has started.
  • View at your own pace: The event will be recorded and sent out to registered participants for viewing on your own schedule.

workshop Overview

This program is suitable for beginners to meditation and healing work.

This program focuses on encountering the sources of our internalized critical voices and confronting them. These can be events from childhood, people in our lives, or beliefs we have about the world. In confronting them we will practice chair-work (parts-work) on each voice, and use Schema Repatterning Meditation (SRM) as a way to heal and integrate.

SRM, the main technique that we’ll use, is influenced by Jeffrey Young’s Schema Therapy approach, Dan Brown and David Elliot’s Ideal Parent Figure Protocol (IPF), and Bruce Ecker’s Coherence Therapy.

Meditations

We’ll do guided meditations that address the three types of critical voice:

  • Demanding Parent
  • Punitive Parent
  • Guilt-inducing Parent

These will include:

  • Chairwork on demanding parent voice
  • SRM on demanding parent voice
  • Chairwork on guilt-inducting parent voice
  • SRM on guilt-inducting parent voice
  • Chairwork on punitive parent voice
  • SRM on punitive parent voice

Miscellaneous Notes

There will be time for Q&A and spot coaching during the live event. The Q&A recording will not be made available thereafter. If you do not attend live, you will not have access to the Q&A.

We will be doing deep work. For that reason please feel free to take a break at any point.

Walking Meditation

There will be a few breaks for walking meditation, and brief instructions will be given.

Psychological

  • Better able to stay grounded when experiencing inner criticism.

  • Less blame of self or others.
  • Greater acceptance of yourself and your needs.

Support Structure

  • Opportunities to find accountability partners to meditate with
